THANK YOU for your interest in adopting one of our wonderful Coonhounds!

PLEASE READ THE BELOW INFORMATION BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

Completing this application does not put the applicant under any obligation and does not guarantee that the applicant will receive a dog.  All information is kept strictly confidential.  Please complete the application in full.  Only those applications will be processed.

There are three stages to our adoption process:
  • A phone interview will be conducted by one of our volunteers.  This may take 40 minutes to 1 hour.
  • References will be checked.  If you currently have other pets in your home, a veterinarian reference is mandatory.
  • A home visit will be done by a volunteer before the adoption is approved.

Before you apply for one of our coonhounds, please be advised that we have certain policies and procedures that are set in place to ensure the best possible scenario for both the adoptive family and the rescue dog.  One of these important policies is that we DO NOT adopt dogs out to homes that have intact (unneutered/unspayed) dogs, unless there is a medical reason why they cannot be altered.  Our policy is that ALL cats and dogs, irrespective of whether they are indoor or not, should be altered unless a medical condition prevents it.   A fully fenced yard is also required as coonhounds are scent hounds and they will wander if left unattended.

Please contact your veterinarian to give them permission to speak with us upon completion of this application.

REFERENCES
Please provide the names and contact information for at least 3 references who can speak to your fitness as a pet owner in general, and more specifically, as the owner of a medium-to-large sized dog.  We ask that you inform your references that we will be contacting them and give them permission to speak with us. PLEASE DO NOT LIST MORE THAN ONE FAMILY MEMBER OR OTHER RELATIVE AS A REFERENCE.

If you currently own or have in the past five years owned a pet, a veterinarian MUST be listed as one of your references.

Please contact your veterinarian to give them permission to speak with us upon completion of this application.

Note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs.   Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

We do reserve the right to decline adoption. If your application for the adoption of a pet is not approved, we will do our best to explain the reason(s). A denial is not a rejection of you as a person; it is a refusal to place a pet in a situation that we do not feel is a good match or does not meet our policies.
